Emission Reduction Units

A unit of greenhouse gas reduction generated under a Joint Implementation project and converted from either an assigned amount unit (AAU) or removal unit (RMU). It can be traded as a carbon offset on the carbon market and purchased by Annex I parties to meet emissions reduction commitments. This unit is equal to one metric ton of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e).
