Debt-for-Nature Swap

Definition

An agreement that converts a proportion of a country's foreign debt into a fund specifically to finance domestic conservation initiatives. Financial capital raised this way can be applied through trust funds or foundations established to administer the funds to domestic conservation activities, e.g. including within REDD+ projects.
