Conservation (or Environmental) Trust Fund

Definition

An independent legal entity governed by a board of trustees from both the private and public sector. They are responsible for managing and disbursing funds from bilateral aid donors, in the form of grants to government agencies and NGO's for environmental and conservation projects. It has been proposed that they could administer initial REDD+ funding from official development assistance and eventually REDD+ funding derived from the sale of carbon credits.
