Below-ground Biomass

This term encompasses all biomass of live roots. Fine roots of less than 2 mm are sometimes excluded due to the empirical difficulty of distinguishing them from soil organic matter and litter. The VCS distinguishes between below-ground tree and non-tree biomass.
