Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions

Definition

At COP-16 in Cancun, parties agreed to implement nationally appropriate policies, projects, research and activities that would result in measurable greenhouse gas reductions in the long-term while simultaneously addressing development needs. They are distinct from emission reduction commitments and targets and do not necessarily address sources of carbon emissions or result in the issuance of tradable carbon credits.
