Annex I/Annex B Countries/Parties

Definition

The UNFCCC assigns Annex I status to a group of developed country Parties and economies-in-transition Parties that commit themselves under Article 4 of the convention to achieve certain quantified emission limitation and reduction objectives. Annex I status currently applies to 36  parties, and includes the members of the OECD in 1992, plus countries with economies in transition.
