REDD+ Country Profile: Nepal

Summary

This paper provides an overview of the current status of Nepal's REDD+ activities. Nepal’s engagement with the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) began in 2008, with the country is in the process of implementing its REDD+ package. The REDD+ Readiness Preparation Proposal (R-PP) was assessed in July 2010, and a revised R-PP was then submitted to the FCPF in October 2010. Nepal is currently developing its national strategies and is engaging in the implementation of strategies and investments through piloting REDD+ activities. Nepal plans to initiate a sub-national jurisdictional approach on REDD+. The paper concludes by outlining the WWF's aims to engage with, and support, Nepal's future REDD+ activities.
