Peatland

Peat is made of decaying organic vegetation, and forms in wetland conditions, where flooding obstructs the flow of oxygen from the atmostphere thereby slowing rates of decomposition. The carbon emission intensity of peat is very high, at 106g CO2/MJ. Peatland is found in many countries around the world, with Indonesia having the largest peatland area in the world.
