Native Federation of the Madre de Dios River and its Tributaries
The Native Federation of the Madre de Dios River and its Tributaries, FENAMAD, is the parent organisation for the indigenous people of the Madre de Dios region. It was founded by indigenous communities, with the objective of defending their rights and promoting plans, projects and actions that will benefit the indigenous people of Madre de Dios.
FENAMAD actively supports the implementation of 'Indigenous REDD+', with indigenous rights at its heart, and notes that this proposal has as a main objective to contribute to the global strategies for mitigation and adaptation to climate change. It looks to strengthen the functions of the Amazon biome ecosystem through the Holistic Management of Life Territories of Indigenous Peoples initiatives, or also called "Amazon Indigenous REDD +" (RIA), which is based on the rights and perspectives of the indigenous peoples. In addition, the FENAMAD seeks to implement a strategy to designing a proposal for obtaining funding, with the support and technical assistance AIDESEP and COICA.
