National Commission for Protected Areas (Mexico)
Decentralized body of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources responsible for managing protected areas. It plays an important role as it is responsible for the management of more than 16 million hectares of forest with no other use but conservation and under high degradation risk. Its expertise will also help in the design and implementation of the National REDD+ Strategy (ENAREDD+). Along with Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the Environmental Protection Agency it is assigned to formulate and manage the national sustainable forest development policy.
