Monitoring & Measurement, Reporting and Verification

Definition

A standardised methodology for gathering and authenticating information on changes in forest carbon stocks and forest area using remote sensing and ground-based data. This information is collected and processed through either a project, or through a national, regional or international system in order to claim benefits from REDD+.  It is worth noting that whilst many organisations refer to "Monitoring, Reporting and Verification", the UNFCCC refer to "Measuring, Reporting and Verification".
