Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) Programme (Cambodia)

Initiative

Summary

The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) of the World Bank is a global partnership focused on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, forest carbon stock conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks (REDD+). The FCPF has created a framework for countries engaging in REDD+ that is meant to support the readiness phase of preparing for national REDD+ implementation. Cambodia is waiting for the approval of a Readiness Grant (USD 3.6 million) for its Readiness Proposal that it submitted to the FCPF in March 2011, and it is expected that these funds will support REDD+ activities after the UN-REDD Programme, which is supposed to finish in 2013. As of June 2013, it was anticipated that the R-PP Preparation Grant, for implementation of the R-PP, would be signed in September 2013.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been selected as a delivery agent for the FCPF funds in support for REDD+ activities in Cambodia.
