Capacity Building on Climate Change for Civil Society Organisations

The purpose of this capacity building programme is to raise awareness and build capacity of civil society, focusing on NGOs and their partners, to effectively respond to and integrate climate change adaptation and mitigation into relevant existing and future programmes to contribute to the long-term sustainable development of Vietnam.

The three-year programme (revised to be two years) has three main components: 1) general awareness raising and communication; 2) training, and; 3) sharing and learning on practical experience. The projects three outputs are therefore: 1) increased NGO access to information and increased coordination and communication on climate change; 2) increased knowledge and skills on climate change adaptation and mitigation and capacity to integrate climate change and disaster risk reduction into existing programmes and implement deliverable carbon projects, and; 3) enhanced sharing and learning on practical experience and good models of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The project has been developed and implemented by two networks: the Climate Change Working Group (CCWG) and the Network of Non-Governmental Organisations and Climate Change (VNGO&CC). It aims to strengthen the capacity of NGOs in response to climate change by increasing information sharing channels and providing training on climate change, including but not limited to that related to REDD+.
