Global Warming Potential

A method for comparing the climate impacts of different greenhouse gases, it provides an estimated measure of how much a given mass of greenhouse gas will contribute to global warming. The IPCC calculates the impact of greenhouse gases over a period of 100 years and uses 1 tonne of CO2 as a baseline as a comparison, therefore GWP is expressed as a factor of CO2.
