Tanzania Forest Fund
Tanzania Forest Fund is a Conservation Trust Fund established to provide stable and long term source of funding for sustainable conservation and management of forest resources in Tanzania. The Tanzania Forest Fund is a Public Fund established by Act of parliament Cap 323 [R.E. 2002] and was made operational in 2010. The Fund operates as a Not-for-Profit governmental organization governed by a Board of Trustees. The Fund is managed on a day to day by the Fund Secretariat headed by an Administrative Secretary. The main intent of establishing the Tanzania Forest Fund is to address the need for a long-term sustainable mechanism to funding the management of forest resources in Tanzania. Inadequate government and donor financial resources for sustainable management of forests in Tanzania revealed the need for establishment of the Tanzania Forest Fund. The Tanzania Forest Fund was set up to provide funding for forest management activities in Tanzania, which may be able to provide additional source of funding for REDD+ projects.
