TNC's mission is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.TNC is a leading conservation organisation working globally to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.

TNC was founded in 1951 and has since protected more than 119 million acres of land and 5,000 miles of rivers worldwide. It works in a number of areas addressing threats in conservation in the areas of climate change, fire, fresh water, forests, invasive species, and marine ecosystems. TNC is involved in developing, testing and implementing REDD+ activities, including in Bolivia, Brazil, Solomon Islands and Indonesia.
