Ministry of Environment and Protection of Nature (Cameroon)
This is a government ministry in charge of environmental politicies development. Activities carried out by MINEP include implementing and coordinating the regional and international environmental policy, ensuring the sustainable use of the country's natural resource while liasing with organisations involved in exploitation of natural resources, and increases public awareness of environmental issues. MINEP's climate change unit is directly responsible for national level REDD activities. Cameroon submitted its R-PIN to the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility through the Ministry of Environment and Nature Protection. The Ecological Monitoring Unit (Cellule du Monitoring et du Suivi écologique - CMSE) of MINEP, chaired by Cameroon UNFCCC focal point, is one of the main REDD+ actors in the country.
