The Katoomba Group
The Katoomba Group is an international network of individuals working to promote, and improve capacity related to, markets and payments for ecosystem services (PES). It was launched by Forest Trends in 1999 and now comprises a number of leading international experts in forestry, energy, research, finance, communities and environmental non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The Group serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and strategic information about ecosystem service transactions and markets, as well as a site for collaboration between practitioners on PES projects and programmes. In Ghana, the Katoomba Group, through Forest Trends, works closely with the Nature Conservation Resource Centre (NCRC), however does not implement any projects on the ground directly.
