Indonesia Forest Climate Alliance

The Indonesia Forest Climate Alliance (IFCA) was formed by the Ministry of Forestry in 2007. IFCA was formed in order to analyse how a REDD+ scheme could operate as a practical emissions reduction mechanism. IFCA is a forum for communication, coordination and consultation for stakeholders working on forest and climate change issues in Indonesia. Coordinated by the Ministry of Forestry, IFCA consists of diverse representatives from governments, private sector, civil society, scientific and academic institutions and international partners.

IFCA contains a series of working groups, through whom studies on different aspects of REDD+ in Indonesia have been conducted. The multi-stakeholder process has been supported by governments from Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom, under the coordination of the World Bank.
