GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) (Peru)
GIZ has been operating in Peru since 1975. It is supporting capacity development within Peru's Ministry for the Environment (MINAM), and is also actively engaged in environmental education and disaster risk management. GIZ works in cooperation with a number of other international donors, such as through co-financing projects with the governments of the Netherlands and Switzerland. GIZ also has a broad portfolio of development partnerships with the private sector, including in the agricultural sector. The Sustainable Rural Development Program (PDRS-GIZ) is part of GIZ, which aims to improve the livelihoods of selected poor rural areas of Peru, through the sustainable management of natural resources. This programme has been working mainly on adaptation measures to climate change in value chains of the San Martin Region.
