Association for Andean Ecosystems
The Association for Andean Ecosystems is a Peruvian NGO working on conservation and biodiversity research projects. As well as this, ECOAN operates ecotourism initiatives and community development projects, which often include sustainable forestry and forest conservation initiatives, in six regions across Peru. Due to its experience working in the buffer zone of the Alto Mayo Protected Forest (AMPF), ECOAN is involved in the Alto Maya Conservation Initiative (ICAM) operating in that area. Its work in the AMPF buffer zone has involved collaboration with local communities living in the park, therefore ECOAN is responsible for designing and implementing Conservation Agreements with local communities for the ICAM.
